Do You Need a Microsoft Charity License?

It is good to identify if you are an organization who would be able to and want to be involved with a Microsoft charity license and why microsoft charity licensing would be important. In some organizations, there is a person or even a department that deals with software but in more cases than others, there is a person handling that. Remember, we are talking about large organizations when we are discussing having a person handle this task. Although as the organization gets smaller, the task could become less of one person's full-time work. But still the Microsoft license for the charity may take up a part of their work.

Assuming that you are a charity that is not of the above size or sizes and you need to determine this need for software licensing, you have many things to consider. A Microsoft charity license is the physical document that authorizes the user to load and run the software. Although physical is the term used, it can be a number that is part of an official email document that then gets printed. As long as their is an official license number and this number can be printed, then that is fine. The charity has the license and this is proof that Microsoft distributed this.

Back to whether you need this, you would have to evaluate all the current computers in your office and first document the type of operating systems, computer specifications, and the current versions of the licensing even if it is not a Microsoft charity license. Once you are complete with this task, you should have a list. On this list will be your computer, maybe by name of the person using it or its task. Next is the operating system information and version of MS software if it has this. It then becomes very easy to look at charity organizational needs, the current software in use, the minimum operating system and general computer specifications to see if any new Microsoft licenses are needed.
