Many users think that because MS has a version for small
business that they also have a version for a church, charity,
nonprofit, etc. The fact is that this is not true. However
MS does have Microsoft office for non profit at a different
price. So we see that semantics are involved because it looks
like it is a special product when it really is a special price.
The Microsoft Office small business package is the culprit
for causing this confusion.
This is not the first time that MS has caused this type of
confusion. Several years ago they named their operating system
XP Home and XP Pro and then named their package Office XP.
Of course, "Pro" has also been used to describe
programs in the past like the current office 2010 professional
plus or "Pro Plus". When you combine that with the
XP Pro and see that at the same time there was an operating
system and an office version that were both XP, you can find
the path of confusion. As we now see, Microsoft office non
profit is no different.
There are so many websites that discuss and debate the issue
and we can assure you that MS does not make an office version
for nonprofits. You can find that the current offering does
work well for these types of organizations because most of
them do function at headquarters like a business and therefore
need the software that can run the organization. |
